The expressive and expressionistic paintings of Ellen Geerts (Nijmegen, 1962) are exhibited in many galleries and art fairs around the world.
Ellen is inspired by landscapes from France, Italy, England, Scotland, Romania and Holland.
"The landscape gives me endless freedom", Geerts says. " A landscape is given - I'm not able to influence it - so I need to make a choice out of a variety of information like seasons, colour and light, to use in my paintings. I prefer landscapes with a lot of contrast. Although the landscapes I paint are never the same, viewers always recognise my work." By her unique way of painting and her use of colour, Ellen takes you to places in her memory.
